Welcome to Flora Kruger Park
|
The flora of the Kruger National Park (KNP) Database provides standardized information about the vascular plants of the Kruger, which includes pictures, herbarium scans, GPS data, and a link to the matK barcode. The KNP is one of the largest protected areas in Africa and is now also part of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park, which links the Kruger Park with Gonarezhou National Park in Zimbabwe and Limpopo National Park in Mozambique. Various habitats and ecological regions exist within the boundary of this park, with at least 11 recognized ‘land systems', in all covering nearly 2 million hectares and a floral biodiversity of approximately 2 000 species of vascular plants. More than 3 000 plant specimens have been collected since the start of the project in Sept. 2005. This represents the most complete and recent inventory of the Park's flora (read more about the project). Additions and corrections to this database should be reported to the Website Manager: Olivier Maurin (olive.maurin@gmail.com; +27 11 559 3477). This website is updated daily.
